A vast array of businesses, occupations, cultural backgrounds, levels of education, and specialisations are all represented in KLM. Every member of the KLM workforce is important and belongs to the ‘big, blue family’.
Language development and personal growth are encouraged by the company. Not only through providing a range of courses and training opportunities, but also by offering internal employment mobility. The flexible attitude and cooperation we expect from our staff is part of this.
Equal opportunities and making use of the differences that exist among our employees are pillars of KLM’s diversity policy. KLM’s workforce must reflect the society in terms of ethnicity, gender, and age. Our clearly defined policy also demonstrates that we do not tolerate unacceptable behaviour.
KLM also invests continuously in safety at work and an effective health policy. New tools and techniques are combined with intensive communications to contribute to a safe working environment, but also to a healthy balance between work and private life. The KLM fitness centres provide staff with opportunities to exercise where they can also receive support care for physical complaints. KLM supports other sporting initiatives and in Africa we have a special HIV/AIDS health project.
KLM feels that high levels of commitment among its staff are essential to making a sustainable and effective contribution to society. Good ideas for more ways to increase sustainable working are always welcome and volunteers are greatly appreciated.
