KLM offers youngsters opportunities and encourages them to take part in various educational projects, focusing specifically on those who otherwise lack opportunities.

KLM Engineering & Maintenance has signed a partnership agreement with five Regional Community Colleges throughout the country. Part of the agreement is the ‘Focus on Aviation Engineering Education’ aimed at harmonising aviation maintenance training. KLM E&M has reserved special apprenticeship places for pupils from these colleges who are training to become aircraft maintenance engineers or technicians. KLM E&M and ROC Leiden have also developed a joint intermediate vocational course for Aircraft Sheet-metal and Plastics Maintenance.

ICT kidZZ Academy

Youngsters facing challenges at home get extra encouragement at the ICT KidZZ Academy (available in Dutch only) in Amsterdam’s New West quarter. At the Academy, they are familiarized with computer hardware and software and the internet, under the guidance of ICT specialists from KLM and other companies. This brings the youngsters into direct contact with the business world.

Books for Africa

Biblionef brings new children’s books to underprivileged children around the world. KLM Cargo not only flies these books – about 2,500 kilos’ worth each year – to their destinations free of charge, but also sponsors local delivery.
