Qué hacer
Los 452 metros de las Torres Petronas son como para perder la orientación y hasta el sentido. La pasarela aérea de estas torres de Kuala Lumpur se encuentra en el piso 42º y permite disfrutar de unas espectaculares vistas del bosque de rascacielos que es la ciudad.
Compras
Adéntrese en la multitud del mercado central Art Déco y no dude en negociar el precio de las coloridas telas batik, las sombrillas pintadas y las relucientes dagas kriss. Venden frutas que merece la pena probar en su viaje a Kuala Lumpur, como el durián, de olor francamente desagradable aunque dulce, la guanábana, de pulpa cremosa, y el espinoso rambután
Restaurantes
Llameantes woks y animadas conversaciones plagan los mercados callejeros nocturnos de Kuala Lumpur. Dirija sus pasos a Jalan Alor para darse un banquete de satay de pollo con salsa de cacahuetes, platos de curry picante suavizados con roti y un oloroso arroz servido sobre hojas de plátano.
Vida nocturna
El ambiente fiestero se aúna con la arquitectura colonial en Asian Heritage Row. Los DJ pinchan R’n’B en las modernas discotecas, y los grupos de la ciudad actúan en bares más tranquilos. Los bares indo-chic ofrecen un ambiente elegante donde podremos cargar las pilas con un cóctel después de aterrizar con los vuelos que nos hayan traído hasta aquí.
Cuándo ir
KLM ofrece vuelos frecuentes a Kuala Lumpur. Planifique sus vacaciones a Kuala Lumpur para no perderse los acontecimientos más señalados, como el Año Nuevo chino, con petardos y bailes de leones, o el cargado programa cultural del Festival de Kuala Lumpur, que se celebra en julio.

KL is a must and "Just do it" destination. Do it for great Malaysian food where variety is the spice; do it for shopping where bargains (Petaling Street) or no bargains (e.g. chic high end the Garden Mall) you come out smiling and satisfied; do it for what Malaysian multiculture has to offer and provide a different perspective. Most of all, consider KL as a hub and gateway to other destinations where only time is the limit. We have not rated any hotel because we were lucky to stay in a family penthouse apartment with an enviable paranomic view of the Petronas Twin Towers and the KL Towers in the horizon, the new Palace in the foreground, and on a very clear night, the red lighting of the Genting Highland hotel sign. Weather-wise KL and Malaysia in general is a hot and humid place and can rain cats and dogs without much warning. Hence be prepared mentally and physically. Travelling should be fun and so leave your attitude (if any) at home. Spontaneity is the essence. If you wish to climb the Petronas make sure you book the tickets in advance. Personally, I have not done so but generally done with towers. In terms of shopping in the Petaling Street (Chinatown), we found the adjacent Central Market (although less of a bargain) more appealing - actually recommended by our driver. Outside the city, Batu Caves may not be for everyone. The stairs can be quite imposing especially on a hot humid day. I would recommend a side visit to Shah Alam, Putrajaya (Malaysia's Canberra) and while at it, Cyberjaya. Genting Highlands is a worthwhile visit not just to get away from the City heat but for the lush green surroundings (cable car ride can be a foggy experience), theme park, quality shopping and some stand-up entertainment. Our next destinations: Penang and Malacca as two starting points in the Peninsula, and not forgetting Sabah and Sarawak in East Malaysia.

Shop at shopping malls, so you won't have to haggle. Be careful when eating at stalls, for hygiene purposes. Eat at food courts or restaurants. Satays and Indian restaurants is a must
