Madrid Barajas

Madrid's ever enlarging Barajas Airport flies over 52 million passengers annually from its four terminals. Barajas is 12km from the city centre and in 12 minutes by Madrid's efficient metro you can reach Nuevos Minesterios in the business district.

As the Spanish capital's only major airport and a rapidly expanding one at that it is worth noting that Barajas gets very busy and it can take time to find the check in desk for your flight. Give yourself plenty of time to avoid the airport becoming a stressful experience.

Terminals

KLM operates out of Terminal 2 with flights bound for Dutch destinations. Fly to Amsterdam Schiphol to connect with long-haul and pan-European flights. Check-in is usually at counters 419 to 423.

Transport between terminals

Walkways and a free Barajas shuttle bus connects Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4. An automatic underground train runs continually between T4 and T4S taking approximately 4 minutes. There's also an internal bus for passengers without visas connecting via Madrid.

Terminal 1

Flights to various European and long-haul destinations operate out of Terminal 1.

Terminal 2

Flights operating from Terminal 2 are bound for various European destinations.

Terminal 3

Domestic and regional flights operate out of Terminal 3, the airport’s smallest terminal.

Terminal 4

Various international flights depart from Terminal 4. Boarding gates M, R, S and U are in T4S, reached from sub-basement 2 by the Automatic People Mover (APM), a driverless train. The journey takes just over three minutes.
