The Han becomes a river of lanterns on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month (usually late April/early May) for Buddha's Birthday (aka the Festival of Lanterns). Around the same time, celebrate downtown when the people come out to party during the Hi Seoul Festival. Enjoy the rituals of Confucian ceremonies held during the Jyongmyo Daeje at the Jangmyo Shrine in May. Tap your feet to traditional and modern rhythms during the Seoul Drum Festival in September/October. Celebrate winter with ice skating at rinks in Mokdong, Yongsan and in front of City Hall.
