Review of Miami
Miami
Flights to Miami take you to Florida's hottest shopping destination. Stylish South Beach edges onto the glittering Atlantic, Little Havana parties with late-night salsa, while Downtown pumps out hip-hop tunes.
Things to do
A trip to Miami can include lazy days on sunny South Beach or a Tour of the Art Deco Historic District's iconic pastel buildings. For a cultural Miami city break, you can choose from opulent Viscaya Museum and Gardens in Coconut Grove or Miami Beach's major art museums.
Shopping
Coconut Grove is home to bohemian fashion stores and South Beach is a favourite for designer labels. Popular gifts to take home from a trip to Miami include domino sets from Little Havana and the latest swimwear from Miami Beach.
Restaurants
Flights to Miami offer world cuisine from Asian fusion in Brickell Key's Azul to spicy Cuban favourites in Little Havana. Miami Beach has plenty of all-day burgers, and South Beach is the place to go for fresh sushi.
Nightlife
South Beach parties continue well after midnight. Little Havana is popular for late-night salsa clubs, while Collins Avenue's candlelit bars are a relaxing haven. If you travel to Miami's Downtown and the Design District, you'll find plenty of late-closing restaurant-lounges.
When to go
KLM and partners have frequent flights to Miami. Choose the date of your Miami holiday to coincide with October's Miami Carnival or travel in January for jazz and street theatre during Miami Art Deco Weekend.

South Beach11 Sep 12
South Beach is known as the Spanish Quarter and the reason soon becomes self-evident. Everyone speaks Spanish except for tourists like myself but the good news is most South Beach locals are bi-lingual. Pretty laid-back, the Deco area is total eye-candy. It's most of South Beach going up to around 22nd St. Beyond that lies a golf course, then all the millionaires' homes and their boats plus the recently-built condo high-rises along Collins. The brochures in your hotel and in the tourist office on Washington Av near 14 St. will prove invaluable if you want the low-down on activities like diving eating clubbing sunbathing taking a bus to the airport (150) etc. Just watch out for the occasional hurricane. I had Isaac visit Miami on the 26th August.jakethesnake - uk
