Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
Although at times crowded and chaotic, the airport has a fine selection of shops. Buy aromatherapy products at Imagine, last-minute gifts of Thai handicrafts from Chitralada, bags of style at Longchamp and reading matter at Folio Books. Although not the lowest of prices, the duty-free shops have a good selection of liquor, tobacco and perfumes.
Visitors can reclaim VAT on goods worth over THB2,000 bought at individual stores with the VAT Refund for Tourists logo. Complete the form PP10 at the time of each purchase. If the total of all your goods comes to more than THB5,000, present the forms, receipts and passport at the VAT information counter in the fourth-floor departure hall for refunds.
There is free WiFi access throughout the building plus 126 free WiFi kiosks in the airport. Usage is limited to 15 minutes per session.
East & Drink
Although lacking the atmosphere, taste or low prices of a Thai food-market, you won't go hungry at the airport. Most of the eateries are on Level 4; choose from sushi at Kinramen, oysters at the Seafood Bar, sandwiches at Pitcher & Plane and light relief at @ Bangkok Café and Bar. Caffeine fiends can get their fix at Caffè Nero by Black Canyon and Doi Tung Coffee, or take tea at the very English Whittard of Chelsea. Dine with a view at Skyloft on Level 6.
