Restaurants in Stockholm
As you'd imagine, there's plenty of excellent seafood here in top-end restaurants like Michelin-starred Operakallaren in Östermalm. It's also worth trying other traditional dishes like meatballs and lingonberry dishes, at Rolfs Kök, or visiting a café in Södermalm for a coffee and a cinnamon bun – a pastime known as fika. Restaurants open at around 11.30am and close around 12am, with a break between the two sittings. Tipping is not expected.

2. Mathias Dahlgren - Top-end
Show moreAt this exclusive restaurant, two different dining experiences complement each other: the Matsalen ("Dining Room") and Matbaren ("Food Bar"). Meals start with a marble-size ball of bread that was a staple of the chef's childhood. Main courses can be humble and regional, as evoked by Dahlgren's pig's cheek paired with sausage, Jerusalem artichokes, and black trumpet mushrooms. Or they can be grand, with more elaborate dishes such as a saddle of roe deer, or a fusion of cauliflower and lobster.
