San Francisco International Airport
San Francisco International Airport is glossy, modern and effective, transporting some 41 million passengers a year. The airport is 21 km (13 miles) from downtown San Francisco, about a 20-minute drive.
Shopping prospects at SFO are good; leave time to wander around the stores before and after security. Post check-in, boarding area G in the International Terminal is the most upmarket; snap up some high-brand fashion from Coach and Gucci and take advantage of duty-free prices for alcohol, tobacco, scents and cosmetics at DFS Duty Free Stores. Of the domestic terminals, boarding area F in Terminal 3 offers the best range for shoppers, with a score of choices including mid-range chains Body Shop and Mango.
Free high-speed Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the airport.
East & Drink
All terminals offer a reasonable selection of eating choices and there are plenty of family-orientated cafés and restaurants, more before than after security, which offer child-friendly menus. Grab a latte at Euro Café before security, then sample healthy sushi and noodles at Ebisu and Fung Lum respectively, or try American classics at Lori's Diner, all in the Main Hall Food Court at the International Terminal.
