   Cairo is an amazing and unique experience which is why I have visited many times and never get bored. Its extremely sensory and even travelling from one place to another is exciting and will provide food for thought and memories to savour. Although the pyramids at Giza are fantastic and a good reason to visit cairo on their own please don't forget to spread your wings and visit Sakkara, Dahshur and Memphis..even older than the pyramids with frescoes that will blow your mind. Then of course there is the Egyptian museum, leave a day to see that as there is so much to see and its all amazing. Its worth paying a guide to shop you the hot spots and then take yourself around for an hour or two so that you can see the rest at your own pace. Then there is the Citadel, the fort of Sahaladin. The khan al Khalili, ancient and wonderful souk for sight seeing and souvenirs. Make sure you visit Fishawi, the oldest coffee house in Cairo, for a coffee and make sure you see the ancient gates, originally the entrances for caravans, travellers and traders. The architecture here probably goes back over a thousand years, squint and you could be there yourself. Make sure you stay for the free Sufi dance show at the wikala al Gouri (just over the road from the Khan al Khalili) but make sure you get there early as its busy for a good reason...its amazing! If you have time please take an hour on the Nile on a felucca (a great way to end the day) and make sure you find a local restaurant to sample some of the delicious local food on offer, my favourites are Koshari, Tamia, Foul and Shish Tawook wash it all down with a sludgey sweet Egyptian coffee and enjoy the guaranteed and amazing sunsets. Last but not least enjoy the hospitality, welcome and cheerfulness of the local people. Top tip...a smile goes a long way in Cairo.Give and recieve them with grace and you will make friends and have a wonderful time. Enjoy :)

   Use black and white taxis and stick to the price on the metre. Go on tripadvisor and get a few numbers for guides and drivers from recommendations. They are cheap and you will have a much better time than joining souless coach tours. Thsi will also support the local people in a positive way. Buy some antinal tablets from a pharmacy as soon as possible. If you get a tummy upset this stuff will do the trick in double quick time. If you find a good taxi ask for his number incase you want to use him again. Egyptian people really love it if you can at least say hello or thank you in their language. Don't be put off by people touting. They are only trying to earn a living and a polite smile and no thank you will be sufficient. Rudeness and aggression get you nowhere in Cairo, manners get results as does a good sense of humour. Take time to talk to people, its a very sociable culture and you will learn alot...and make friends :)

   I was brought up in Cairo but now live in England.cairo has a magical feel and lots of people say this.there is lots to do and see but is relaxing if that's the kind of holiday you look for.i was visiting family but still never tire of visiting the attractions there and the shopping bizarres are fab.the faluka boats on the Nile are amazing and relaxing .the people in Egypt are some of the best in the world and would gladly give you their last .magical is the word which my wife uses for Cairo.
