Review of Jakarta
Jakarta
Take flights to Jakarta for haggling at lively flea markets, spicy street food and classy cocktails in colonial surroundings.
Things to do
Discover Indonesia's cultural heritage at Jakarta's National Museum. Housed in the 19th-century Elephant House, the museum spans millennia with its treasure-trove collection of costumes, instruments, imperial gold and ceramics.
Shopping
Find antique Samurai swords, traditional Indonesian puppets, brassware and handicrafts at the bustling Jalan Surabaya Market. The open-air flea market is full of unusual gifts to take home from your Jakarta holiday, but be prepared to haggle.
Restaurants
Wok smoke rises above the hubbub of Chinatown's Mangga Besar Night Market. Jostle for a table to tuck into Indonesian flavours like fried rice, aromatic satays and flat noodles with stir-fried seafood on your Jakarta city break.
Nightlife
Slip back to Dutch colonial times at Café Batavia's Churchill Bar, where black-and-white photos of celebrities and royalty line the walls. Smooth jazz plays as you sip decadent cocktails like Borneo Sunset and Marry Me after your Jakarta flights.
When to go
KLM has frequent flights to Jakarta. Travel to Jakarta for top events like March's Java Jazz Festival, or the Jakarta International Film Festival in December.

Great wether and food07 Mar 12
Curacao is a nice island, great whether (sun and a bit windy) and has nice restaurants. At night you can just wandering around in your t-shirt, not to worry that it is getting cold. If you want to have a relaxing holiday, then Curacao is your island. Also great with small kids.Janneke - Netherlands

If you want to taste world’s best steakhouse, visit El Gaucho. It's not located in the center, but at the top of a hill at 15 minutes drive. The view from the restaurant is great and after the first time, you want to come back for more delicious food.

We loved Curacao08 Feb 12
Friendly people and gorgeous weather. Most restaurants offered excellent food and friendly service - Brakkeput Mei Mei was disappointing in all aspects (the only exception). Outside Willemstad and away from the big hotels there's a good variety of beautiful, idyllic beaches, most within a half hour's drive. We snorkeled and our teenage boys went diving. Visibility underwater was an amazing 60+ meters and you almost step on the reef from the beach. Only negative thing about Curacao is the litter everywhere. Paper and plastic bags add nothing to the ambiance of what is otherwise a beautiful island. Despite this, we'll be back.Colin - Netherlands

Rent a car and get away from Willemstad. Find Kokomo Beach - a newly opened beach with restaurant and shady places to sit. Great food, good service, comfortable sunbeds. Professional dive school. Check the website.
