Review of Marseille
Marseille
Flights to Marseille land in France's second city, a sun-soaked cultural crossroads. The Vieux Port buzzes with boats, bars and fresh fish, while the Corniche and Panier districts have North African-influenced cuisine and museums.
Things to do
From the Vieux Port you can travel to Marseille's Chateau d'If, a former military island and prison, or take trips to Marseille's idyllic beaches at Les Calanques. Museums are located in Panier, Longchamp and La Corniche, home to the Contemporary Art Museum (MAC).
Shopping
Marseille holidays promise numerous shopping opportunities with boutiques around the Cannebière and trendy Cours Julien. The Vieux Port's Quai de Belges Fish Market is worth a visit, and don't miss the fresh-baked biscuits at Le Four des Navettes.
Restaurants
Flights to Marseille mean a good portion of fine dining and innovative seafood dishes. You can choose from traditional bouillabaisse (fish soup) on the Vieux Port to Michelin-starred dining on the Corniche and all-day snacks on Cours Julien.
Nightlife
Quai de Rive Neuve is home to bars, jazz clubs and nightclubs. Cours Julien has bohemian bars, and the Vieux Port promises something for everyone. Tickets to Marseille's Grand Théâtre promise a night of classical entertainment.
When to go
KLM has frequent flights to Marseille for escapades throughout the year. Travel to Marseille in June or July for the artistic Festival de Marseille and in October for music at the Fiesta des Suds.

Relaxation in the sun!24 May 12
The Port of Marseille has an energy of excitement surrounding it. The marina has many great restaurants and bars along with a number of street performers. A nice place to stay in the evening and enjoy the evening breeze whilst sipping on some lovely wine! There are many ferries leaving Port Marseille that will take you for day trips to the nearby islands.ExoticKoala - Australia

The Metro is quick and easy to get around the city. I would definitely suggest that you bring some swim wear and take a short boat journey and explore one of the nearby islands off the coast.
