KL's Chinese New Year (Jan) is a riot of street parades and temple celebrations while the Hindu Thaipusam procession (Feb) attracts pilgrims to the sacred Batu Caves. Malaysian independence is honoured in spirited National Day festivities in August. September offers cultural performances and art exhibitions during Malaysia Fest and designer brands are on offer during October's Shopping Carnival.
