Tap your feet to some new sound at Marseille's creative music festival, Le Festival International des Musiques d'aujourd'hui in June. In July feast your eyes on the theatre and dance performances of the Festival de Marseille and soak up some jazz at the Festival de Jazz des 5 Continents in the Longchamp gardens. In August take in a movie on an inflatable silver-screen during the outdoor Ciné Plein Air film festival and watch colourful creatures swoop and dive on the Prado beaches during September's Fête du Vent kite festival.
Piano Nights

As autumn sets in, the cream of classical piano talent descends on Provence for Piano Nights (Les Nuits Pianistiques). A three-month series of classical music concerts, it is held in towns across the region, including Marseille and Aix-en-Provence.
