Review of San Francisco
San Francisco
Catch flights to San Francisco for cable cars, Fisherman’s Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Things to do
Hop onto San Francisco’s small red cable cars for a tour of this California city. Up and down steep hillsides, their bells clanging cheerfully, the cable cars travel past San Francisco’s landmarks – Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Shopping
Walk through Chinatown’s markets on your San Francisco holiday, scooping up bags of jasmine tea, porcelain teapots and filigreed incense burners. Asian spices perfume the air at tiny Asian grocers, where visitors buy souvenir chop sticks and bamboo steamers.
Restaurants
Come in from San Francisco’s fog and tuck into creamy seafood chowder served in bowls of hot sourdough bread. Fresh seafood fills menus at Fisherman’s Wharf, where diners overlook San Francisco Bay and the playful sea lions on Pier 39.
Nightlife
After flights to San Francisco, liven up the night at energetic dance clubs in the city’s SoMa district. Dance to young DJ mixers late into the night, and relax with trendy cocktails or a glass of Northern California wine.
When to go
KLM has frequent flights to San Francisco. Plan a holiday when San Francisco’s Chinatown celebrates Chinese New Year or wait for the Bay-to-Breakers costume footrace in May.

Just one persons opinion !29 Mar 12
For me San Francisco has a great vibe. It has all the good and bad stuff that you find in any major western city, but it also has something more. It seems to have a soul.(I should have been a 70s hippie !). Unlike most American cities, SF is a very walkable place. A car here is unnecessary and could be a burden. The bus and subway are cheap and can get you to most parts of the city easily. I also found taxis reasonably priced. Hotels are generally expensive, but there are bargains to be had if you shop around. There's a huge range of eating opportunities too.Rich - UK

Do a city bus tour (we did the blue bus). You get an overview of SF and see places to go back and take time there later. Do a bay cruise (about 1 hour), you'll get some great photos of the bridge ,Alcatraz and the cityscape. Views over SF from top of Coit Tower. Have clam chowder in sourdough. Have Irish coffee at the buena vista. Beware of dodgey parts of the Tenderloin and SOMA. Go and see Beach Blanket Babylon. Relax and enjoy where you are !

Great place to go!29 Feb 12
I was here for one weekend and really enjoyed the city. There are so many things to do like visiting Alcatraz, going to the wharf and checking the seals. I even did a cycling trip which was great but more of a challenge than I expected given the height differences in the city!Guido -
