A rare black effigy of Christ is borne through the streets of Quiapo in January's Feast of the Black Nazarene and sails are hoisted for the President's Cup Regatta in March. June sees Manila's contribution to the worldwide Fête de la Musique in June. Relive colonial times with costumed parades at November's month-long Intramuros Festival; these festivities wind up at December's Feast of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, during which statues of the Virgin Mary are carried sombrely around the streets.
