Shopping in Cairo
Central to Cairo's shopping experience is Khan el-Khalili in Islamic Cairo, its boisterous lanes alive with centuries-old trading for perfume oils, antique silver and saddle bags. The huge Stars Centre modern shopping arcade in Heliopolis offers contemporary styles. Zamalek and Dokki have plenty of handicraft shops including handmade fabrics and jewellery at Nagada. Downtown has busy local shops, from clothes to books to music. Most shops are open between 10am-6pm, and closed on Fridays.
