Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport
The modern Chengdu Shangliu International Airport, 16 km (10 miles) southwest of downtown Chengdu, is the biggest airport in southwest China and handles 29 million passengers. The international departure building, built in 2004, cost RMB3.8 billion and brought the airport up to the best international standards. The shuttle bus into the city centre takes 35 minutes.
A shuttle bus is available at 20-minute intervals from the airport to and from the city centre. The fare is RMB10 and the journey takes around 35 minutes. The city-centre stop is at Lantian Hotel, at the second section of Renmin Nan Lu, beside the China Southwest Airlines ticket office.
Taxis wait outside Terminal 1 and the journey to the city centre normally takes 20-30 minutes on the downtown expressway. You'll have to bargain with the driver – RMB80 is a reasonable amount to pay, though you'll initially be asked for much more.
