Bahrain International Airport
One of the busiest airports in the Middle East, Bahrain International Airport flies nine million passengers a year from its one hectic terminal. The airport is currently undergoing expansion, expected to be completed in 2015. The 8km taxi ride to the centre of the island's capital Manama takes 15 minutes.
Coach
The public bus to Manama's bus station is not convenient for those with lots of luggage, as the stop is a walk from the airport. Although the cheapest option (approximately 100 fils), this is a slow journey (30-40 minutes) with frequent stops. Many passengers arrange collection from the terminal by private hotel minibus.
Taxi
Private taxis wait outside the terminal building. Standard fare (non-meter) from the airport to the centre of Manama city is BD6 (extra after midnight). All taxi fares should be negotiated in advance. Arriving passengers are likely to be asked for more than the standard fare. The journey takes around 15 to 20 minutes.
Car
Airport Avenue and Shaikh Isa Causeway connect the airport to Manama. Car hire is available from the Arrivals Hall.
