Transportation in Aruba
Coach
Not all of Aruba is served by the public bus network so look for the yellow road signs that denote a scheduled stop. Timetables can be picked up from tourist information booths across the island. Regular services run Monday to Saturday between San Nicholas on the south-west coast and beach resorts along the north-west coast, with stops in Oranjestad.
Taxi
Aruba's plentiful supply of taxis supplements a mediocre public transport system with most drivers found at the airport, hotels or downtown Oranjestad. Many are part of the regulated Tourism Awareness Programme so ask for rates and agree a fare before getting in.
Transportation tips
Frequent tourist buses to Malmok and Arashi stop at all of Aruba's main hotels and each vehicle is clearly signed with its final destination. The Bushiri Beach Resort is the first port-of-call. Long-stay visitors should pick up a VisitAruba Plus card which offers dozens of discounts on transport, transfers and more.
