Stockholm - Arlanda Airport
Sweden's largest airport, sleek Stockholm-Arlanda Airport flies 19 million passengers a year from four passenger terminals. The airport is situated 42km (26 miles) north of Central Stockholm and the Arlanda Express train takes you to Central Station in 20 minutes.
The efficient Arlanda Express train departs every 15 minutes, and links the airport with Stockholm's Central Station in 20 minutes. Escalators and lifts connect the flight terminal directly to the platform, making this an easy option, even if you have luggage. Adult single tickets cost SKr260 (SKr490 return) and accompanied children under 16 travel free.
Flygbussarna Airport Coaches and the Swebus service run between Stockholm-Arlanda Airport and the City Terminal (next to Central Station). Departing every five to ten minutes, the journey takes around 40 minutes. The Airport Coaches serve all terminals. A single ticket costs SKr99.
Taxis are available directly outside the airport terminals - ask for a fixed airport transfer rate when you book. Choose to travel with an ecotaxi for an environmentally ‘clean car' – these are always at the front of taxi queues; ask the taxi rank officer if you are not sure. Alternatively, book a Flygtaxi (fly and ride) at the Flygtaxi counter in Terminal 4. The maximum fare to the city centre (during the day) is around SKr550.
The E4 motorway connects Stockholm-Arlanda Airport with central Stockholm. Car hire is available – jump on a service bus during peak hours (stop 17 outside Terminals 2, 4 and 5) to take you to the car-hire companies, or, outside peak hours, call them directly from free phones in the airport.
