Airport Athens

Greece's newest and busiest airport was opened in 2001 and flies over 16 million passengers a year from two terminals. Voted European Airport of the Year in 2004, Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport is utilised by 67 international and domestic airlines. The 30km bus journey west of the airport takes visitors into Athens.

Airport parking

Short-term (up to five hours) parking is available in P1 and P2, outside Arrivals at the Main Terminal Building. For long-term parking, head for P3, across the Attiki Odos motorway, where 3,500 spaces are available. A Parking Express shuttle bus runs to the Main Terminal and there is also a covered walkway leading to the terminal building. Payment can be made by card or cash at machines in the car park. Valet parking is available from the Departures level of the Main Terminal.

KLM operates from the Main Terminal with flights bound for Dutch destinations. Fly to Amsterdam Schiphol to connect with pan-European and long-haul flights.

Main Terminal

All flights, domestic and international, check in at Departures Level 1 of the Main Terminal building.

Walkways and travelators link the Main Terminal and the Satellite Terminal; allow 25 minutes to get between the furthest points.

The Main Terminal area is divided into two sections: Section A serves flights to countries that do not belong to the Schengen Agreement (ie UK, US) and Section B operates domestic flights and handles passengers travelling to and from the countries covered by the relaxed border controls of the Schengen Agreement. These are Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden (and Switzerland as of Nov 2008).

Handling flights according to the needs of the airport, the Satellite Terminal is reached by walkway from the Main Terminal. It is imperative to check the Flight Information Boards for up-to-the-minute departures information.
