When to go
KLM has frequent flights to Rotterdam. Visit in early April, when the harbour is crowded with the canvas sails of tall ships en route to Amsterdam at the annual Race of the Classics.

At just under 30 minutes by train from Schiphol airport is Holland second largest city, Rotterdam. World-famous for it's large sea harbour, its predominantly modern architecture is quite different from Amsterdam's 17th century appearance, but the many nationalities, designers and artist living together create a buzzing atmosphere with lots of restaurants, galleries, exhibitions and events.Richard - Netherlands

Go with a water taxi to Hotel New York, visit historical 'Oud Delfshaven' or go shopping in the boutique shops in Witte de Withstraat (also home to many pubs and places to eat).
