Newcastle International Airport
One of the UK's fastest-growing regional airports, Newcastle International Airport flies four million passengers a year from its terminal. The seven-mile (11km) journey south-east to Newcastle Central Station takes less than 25 minutes with the Metro.
The X74, X78 and X79 buses take around 20-30 minutes from the airport to Eldon Square, in the city centre, running every half an hour. Tickets can be bought on board and cost £2.20 for a single fare. The bus stop is on the main road outside the terminal building.
Airport Taxis is the only official taxi service that can pick people up or drop them off immediately outside the terminal building. The journey between the airport and the city centre takes around 20 minutes and costs about £15-20. Hail a cab at the rank outside the Arrivals Hall; book by phone (+44 (0) 191 214 6969) or online for journeys to the airport.
On leaving the airport, join the A696 to drive into central Newcastle. Car hire is available from the Arrivals Hall.
