Shopping in Newcastle
The city centre's shops are plentiful, no more so than at Eldon Square, where department stores rub shoulders with restaurants. Along the River Tyne lies the newly developed Quayside with the Sunday Quayside Market. Shoppers rummage for crafts and jewellery here, and go to The Biscuit Factory to be tempted by yet more artworks and meet local artists. Shops are open daily, with late opening on Thursdays.
Eldon Square
Everything under one roof
Eldon Square is Newcastle's main city centre shopping arcade. Its 156 stores,
including John Lewis, Fenwick and Marks and Spencer, bustle daily with
shoppers from the northeast. Tired bargain-hunters have a rest and a snack
at Wagamama and Strada.
