Rio de Janeiro has hot and humid summers – temperatures of 38°C (100°F) and higher are not uncommon between December and March, with short tropical showers almost on a daily basis. An air-conditioned room is a must. From April to October temperatures are milder, ranging from 15-22°C (59-72°F) at night and a pleasant 25-30°C (77-86°F) in the daytime. Rio’s ‘winter’ months are June, July and August, with temperatures occasionally dipping as low as 15°C (59°F).
