    Airport Moscow

    Sheremetyevo International Airport is the second largest airport in Russia, its five terminals visited by more than 10 million passengers every six months. Moscow is 29 km (18 miles) away to the south-east, a 35-minute journey by train.

    Airport parking

    All of the airport's terminals have convenient car parks for short- and long-term stays: the BRK car park at Terminal F allows the first 15 minutes free, and the Terminal C Vinci Park will give you five minutes. Elsewhere, expect to pay anything from 10 rubles per hour (Autosher, Terminal F) to 150 rubles (BRK, Terminal F).

    Aerotranservice (Terminal B) offers free transfers between Terminals B and F, while Parking S, Amediaconsul, and Autosher (all at Terminal B) offer free transfers to all terminals.

    The Galaks facility at the cargo terminal offers free transfers to Terminals B and F: and parking rates are a bargain at 20 rubles per hour.

    A transit visa is required if your flight connection exceeds 24 hours, or if you are travelling to any destination via Belarus.

    Terminals

    KLM operates out of Terminal E, with flights bound for Dutch destinations. Fly to Amsterdam Schiphol to connect with long-haul and pan-European flights.

    Transport between terminals

    Shuttle buses transfer passengers free of charge from Terminals B and C to Terminal E, while a further electric walkway takes passengers from Terminal D to E. Take official claims of short transfer times with a pinch of salt: delays of up to two hours have been reported.

    Terminal B (formerly Sheremetyevo-1) handles domestic flights and destinations in the former Soviet Union.

    Terminal C

    A limited number of short-haul regional and European flights operate from Terminal C.

    Terminal D

    Terminal D (formerly Sheremetyevo-3) handles domestic and international flights.

    Terminal E

    Terminal E handles long-haul and international flights.

    Terminal F

    The majority of international flights operate from Terminal F (formerly Sheremetyevo-2).
