    Shopping in Lyon

Quality food and fashions are Lyon's traditional specialities. The "Carré d'Or" (Golden Square), on the Presqu'île between Bellecour and Cordeliers Squares, is the crowded shopping district. Centuries of silk making leaves a luxurious legacy, with workshops like L'Atelier de Soierie selling elegant products. Part Dieu is centred on one of Europe's largest malls, and is home to the main food market Les Halles de Lyon. Most shops are open Monday-Saturday 9am/9.30am to 7pm/8pm (closed 12pm-2pm).
