Avoid the crowds from November to February, when days are cooler but temperatures rarely drop below 13°C (55.4°F). Barcelona blooms in the mild spring months, averaging 18°C (64.4°F) from March to May. Summers are hot, hovering at around 28°C (82.4°F). In August, the city swelters with temperatures of up to 35°C (95°F) and the beach beckons while many smaller shops, bars and restaurants close for the entire month. Expect warm days and spontaneous showers from September to October.
