Edinburgh Airport
Situated eight miles (12 km) west of the capital, Edinburgh Airport is Scotland’s busiest, flying nine million passengers a year from a single terminal. A £40 million terminal extension began in 2009, and will take several years to complete.
Rail
There is currently no railway station at the airport, but both Waverley and Haymarket stations, operated by First ScotRail, are on the bus and taxi routes to and from the airport. Connect to local and nationwide destinations from these stations.
Coach
The bus is a reasonable option for visitors. Buy tickets for the Airlink 100 express bus service into central Edinburgh from the information desk in International Arrivals, in advance online or on the bus itself. Tickets cost £3.50 single or £6 return. The service runs every 10 minutes from 6am until 12.30am, taking around 25 minutes to Waverley Bridge. The N22 night service takes over at 12.30am and runs every half hour (£3 single). These buses terminate at Waverley station in the heart of the city.
Lothian Buses also run a frequent number 35 service, which is convenient for business travellers with stops at the Scottish Parliament and Scottish Executive in Leith. It costs just £1.30.
All buses leave outside UK Arrivals.
Taxi
Book taxis online or in the UK Arrivals Hall on the ground floor of the terminal, or jump into one of the 'black cab' taxis outside Arrivals next to the coach park. The journey into the city centre takes about 25 minutes (up to 50 during rush hour). The fare is approximately £18.
Car
Car hire is available in the car rental building outside the terminal. From the airport take the A8 and follow the Edinburgh city centre signs into town. The drive takes about 15-20 minutes, and longer at peak times.
