Events in Jakarta

The year's events start with the Chinese community welcoming in the the Chinese New Year in Eu Tong Street, with firecrackers and dragons. The International Jazz Festival takes place in March. June sees the celebration of the founding of Jakarta in 1527. July is the Kite Festival, with hundreds of the colourful kites dancing across the skies. Get to Merdaka Square for the National Day celebrations in August. The end of the Muslim fasting period is celebrated in October with fireworks over Jakarta, and Christmas is celebrated in December.

Jakarta Jam!

Jakarta Jam! brings two days of music and fun to the Tennis Indoor Senayan. Two international bands and one local group perform each day with visitors given the opportunity to meet the musicians.
