Shopping in Chengdu

Shopping is one of the best ways to discover Chengdu. The city-centre Qing Shi Qiao Market is one of the city's most bustling spots, with traders selling everything from cacti to seafood. Tong Ren Tang, in the Jinjiang District is one of the best places to browse for Chinese medicines. Traditional Chengdu products can be bought at the Chengdu Shu Brocade Institute and the Chengdu Lacquer-wares Factory.

    The aptly named Computer City, just south of the city centre, is a good place to pick up all different kinds of electronic goods at low prices. The blocks running along each side of the first ring road are a gadget lover's paradise, crammed with floor after floor of stores selling computers, cameras and mobile phones. Stores have rare camera and computer parts and can also do repairs.
