Berlin Tegel Airport
Frequent flyers choose Berlin-Tegel Airport for its convenient location and hassle-free service. The terminal flies more than 15 million passengers a year to European and long-haul destinations. Central Berlin is a 15-20-minute taxi ride away. This airport is set to close in spring 2013 to make way for Berlin's new Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport.
Buses 128, 109 and X9 link the airport to Berlin's U-Bahn (underground) and S-Bahn (urban rail) networks, stopping at major stations like Beusselstrasse (S-Bahn Ring Line) and Jungfernheide (U7 line), which offer easy access into the centre.
Buses 128, X9 and 109 operate regularly between the airport and central Berlin, departing from the stop in front of Arrivals. Every 10 minutes from 6am to 7pm and every 20 minutes between 7pm and 11.07pm the Jet-ExpressBus TXL shuttles passengers between the terminal and key landmarks like Alexanderplatz and Unter den Linden. The journey takes 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. The BVG office in the main hall provides further information (tel: +49 (0) 30 1-94 49).
The A105, A11 and A100 motorways connect the airport to central Berlin; on a clear run you can reach the centre in 20 minutes. There are car-hire desks for most major companies near car park P2.
