Cape Town International Airport
Cape Town International Airport flies just over eight million passengers a year from its two terminals. A total makeover includes an elevated road to ease access to the terminals, an additional multi-storey car park and a brand-new Central Terminal Building (CTB), catering for both international and domestic travellers.
The duty-free mall on the first floor of the International Terminal (after security) has outlets selling perfume, cosmetics and liquor as well as souvenirs, books and accessories. Pick up sunglasses at Sunglass Hut, bags from Accessorize, and unearth a girl's best friend from Shimansky. The Domestic Terminal has less choice, but offers a reasonable selection of books, gifts and wine, mainly post-security.
Non-residents leaving South Africa are entitled to claim back VAT (Value Added Tax) on goods purchased during their stay. Claim your refund at the VAT refund office (tel: +27 (0) 21 934 8675) on the ground floor of International Departures.
Wireless internet access, provided by Internet Solutions, is installed throughout the airport.
East & Drink
There are cafés serving drinks and snacks pre- and post-security in both terminals and the Central Terminal Building. If you want a substantial meal, the best choice is in Domestic Arrivals where you'll find steak and burgers at Steer's and burgers at Wimpy. Alternatively, head to Dulce Café's buffet counter in the first-floor duty-free mall after security in the International Terminal.
