KLM and partners fly to Reagan National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport. Operating domestic flights only, Reagan National is the closest to downtown Washington, located just 6km from the National Mall. Washington Dulles offers international flights and carries nearly 24 million passengers a year. It is located 41km west of downtown Washington.
One of three metro Washington airports (the others are Washington Dulles and Baltimore/Washington International), Reagan National Airport transports around 18 million passengers into and out of the nation's capital each year. The 15-minute journey into the city centre (6km from the airport) can be made on the Metrorail.
Shops, restaurants and cafés are spread along the entire length of National Hall, the mall encompassing Terminals A, B and C before security. You won't break the bank shopping at Reagan National—the airport isn't big enough to house a large shopping centre—but you'll find everything you need, and more.
Buy technology gadgets at Airport Wireless and souvenirs at Rosetta Stone and the Smithsonian Museum Store. There is only one duty-free shop (in Terminal A) at Reagan National, since the airport mostly serves domestic destinations.
Wireless high-speed internet access is installed throughout the airport, with service provided by means of several national providers.
East & Drink
Most dining at Reagan National falls into the category of cafés, pubs and sandwich shops. But you can enjoy a sit-down seafood feast at Tidewater Landing post-security in Terminal B or beer and steak at Gordon Biersch in Terminal C after check in. In the same terminal, Five Guys is famous in Washington for its terrific burgers and fries. There's good coffee at Dunkin' Donuts, pre- and post-security in Terminals A, B and C, and Starbucks in the National Hall.
The cost of food and drink compares to what you'll pay in city-centre Washington.
