There is no better place to try a sauna than in Helsinki – it's practically obligatory for the locals. The normal Finnish custom, contrary to popular belief, is to have separate saunas (or separate days) for men and women.
Also, be wary of taking photos where people are closely surrounding you, particularly in pubs and bars. Locals can be sensitive about this.
