Summer in Helsinki begins in May and lasts until mid-September when the average daily temperature is around 15°C (59°F), though the temperature can head up to around 30°C (86°F) by July. Daylight lasts for up to 19 hours in late June. Winter is at its harshest around the end of January, when temperatures can fall to well below -15°C (5°F). The regular blanket of snow fortunately adds some charm to the Finnish winter. Spring arrives around April.
