Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport
Formerly known as Otopeni Airport, Romania's largest airport was renamed in honour of the Romanian aereospace pioneer Henri Marie Coanda. It currently handles five million people a year.
Coach
The 783 Express bus connects the airport and Bucharest's city centre in around 45 minutes. Buses leave from in front of the Arrivals and Departures terminals and run every 15 minutes from 5.30am (every half an hour after 8.30pm and on Saturdays and Sundays). Any stop between Arcul de Triumf in the north of the city and Piata Unirii in the south connect to the city's underground network. Buy a two-journey ticket for lei8.60.
Taxi
Taxis leave from outside the international departures hall as well as the domestic flights terminal and take you to Bucharest in about an hour. A variety of providers will grapple for your custom, but it's best to rely on one of the established providers, such as Fly Taxi, which usually charge an inexpensive RON3.5 per kilometre. A tip is generally not expected.
Car
Use the DN 1 motorway to get from the airport to Bucharest. Car hire is available from the international arrivals hall and the journey takes around 45-60 minutes.
