Climate information

Despite being the highest capital in Europe (646 metres above sea level), Madrid generally enjoys mild winter temperatures, with an average January temperature of 5°C (41°F), though be warned it sometimes dips below freezing. The average July temperature is 24°C (75.2°F) and summers can get very hot, justifying siestas during the hottest part of the day. Air conditioning is a must for all but the foolish in summer.
