Review of Cairo
Cairo
Flights to Cairo bring a beguiling mix of biblical world wonders, Nile-side chic and a rambling market filled with treasures.
Things to do
Narrow noisy streets of ancient Islamic Cairo are lined with a rich legacy of mosques and mausoleums. On your Cairo holiday, take a night stroll when the crowds die down to gaze at these spot-lit minarets with ornate balconies.
Shopping
Along the rambling streets of Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, choose hand-blown muski glass as souvenirs of your Cairo city break. Among the fabrics, fragrant oils and fresh spices, lose yourself in the hidden-away alleyways, all part of the Cairo fun.
Restaurants
In Cairo’s fashionable suburb Zamalek, locals love to experience traditional cuisine with a contemporary twist. Dine in converted stone-walled townhouses to sample favourite dish molokhia with kishk yoghurt. Make a reservation for busy Thursday and Friday nights.
Nightlife
Take flights to Cairo to kick back on a stylish Nile-side sofa, and feel the river’s night breeze in café- bars like Sequoia. Party-loving Cairenes love to sip chilled beer and linger over a fruity sheesha pipe, with countless choices of flavours.
When to go
KLM has frequent flights to Cairo. Book your Cairo holiday to experience annual highlights like the International Film Festival in November/December, or magical celebrations for Coptic Christmas in January.
