Transportation in Linköping
Linköping is a small town by most standards, with its centre located west of the Stangan River.The compact town centre is the place to go for all shopping, eating and nightlife. Head west for the University and some of the more interesting museums, or venture north out of town for Lake Roxen and the surrounding historical sights.

Foot
The best way to get around Linköping's centre as a tourist is on foot. You can walk from the train station in the centre to the popular museums in the west in less than an hour. If you get tired there are plenty of cosy cafés around.
Bus
The buses departing from resecentrum in the centre are cheap and easy to use. Lines 1, 2 and 3 all pass through the centre to go north/south, south-west and west. Line 10 runs north to the shopping centre in Tornby, while the 525 goes out of town to the docks in Berg.
Taxi
Taxis can be found by the train station or at key spots around the city, but they are expensive. Unless you are really in a hurry, there's no reason not to use public transport.
Rent your car
Linkoping lies on the E4 main road that leads from Stockholm in the north-east to Malmö in the south-west. In the city centre, it costs 10-14 SEK to park for three hours, while long-term parking is available near the Central Station for 60 SEK for 24 hours.
Transportation Tips
The Periodkort saving cards can be bought in Pressbyran kiosks to cover travel for 24 hours, 15 days or one month. Single fares can also be bought on the buses by text message or cash. They cover unlimited travel for one hour within the appropriate zone.

Cycling
Cycling is the favourite mode of transport for Linköping's many students. With the town's flat landscape, sparse traffic and large number of cycle paths, it's safe and easy for visitors to follow suit.
