hotel zola-in zola predrosa is a fairly standard hotel and a little bit out of the centre. but a great base for the whole region. The staff are always attentive and very efficient. Next door restuarant is unusual but good and cheap for standard Italian fayre

    2. Bologna don't simply pass it by06 Oct 12

The majority of visitors to Italy go to nearby Florence, in Tuscany and just pass through Bologna. It's a big mistake. Bologna is a fabulous city, with hospitable people, elegance and good taste. It's one of the largest historical centres in Europe and contains innumerable places of art to visit as well as important museums. It has a radiant past such as having the oldest University in Europe

      Reviewer's tip

To stay in the historical centre and walk, walk and walk to feel the atmosphere of the city. It feels like going back centuries. Climb up the leaning tower (torre degli asinelli) for a marvelous view of Bologna. Walk through the old market just behind Via Rizzoli one of the elegant and central streets of Bologna.
