Shopping in Kiev
Glitzy malls have transformed Kiev's shopping scene, but old-school style and service live on at TsUM department store, a Soviet monolith. A short walk away, Kreshchatyk is still the main shopping street with a warren of fashion and brand concessions under Maidan Nezalezhnosti. Souvenirs, antiques and art galleries can be found in the tiny boutiques lining Andriyivskiy Uzviz, and flowers and local delicacies at the Bessarabsky Market. Most shops open 10am-9pm daily.
TsUM
Shopping Soviet style
Located off central Kreshchatyk Street, TsUM (the former Tsentralny
Univermag, or central department store) retains its Soviet atmosphere
despite rows of western concessions. An architectural landmark, originally
built by Constructivist Alexei Shchusev in 1936, the Kreshchatyk-facing side
was rebuilt in 1960.

Bessarabsky Market
Traditional market, historic building
While its 1912 Style Moderne building is somewhat worse for wear, the
Bessarabsky Market at the southern end of Kreshchatyk main street sells
fresh produce. Babushkas (old ladies) in the surrounding streets sell
flowers straight from the dacha, or allotment.
