Istanbul - Atatürk International Airport
Istanbul Ataturk Airport is situated in Yesilkoy, on the European side of Istanbul, 28 km (16 miles) from the city centre. The Metro will whisk you into the city centre within 30 minutes.
Buses run every 30 minutes between 4am and 1am from the domestic and international terminals to Taksim Square in the city centre. The journey takes 40 minutes if traffic is good and the fare costs from TL10.
Taxis are available outside the terminal building. The journey into central Istanbul takes roughly 30 minutes (more during commuter rush hours) and costs around TL40. Cab drivers expect you to tip, so add another 5-10% onto the final fare.
There are numerous international and local car-hire companies operating at the airport. Journey times from the airport vary according to the time of day (well over an hour in morning rush hour).
