Situated eight miles (12 km) west of the capital, Edinburgh Airport is Scotland’s busiest, flying nine million passengers a year from a single terminal. A £40 million terminal extension began in 2009, and will take several years to complete.
Edinburgh Airport has 3,600m² of retail space. Grab an Italian bag at The Collection @ Edinburgh, or a gift from Scottish designer boutique Liquorice Tree. Get some travel accessories from Boots and electronics from Dixons. Stock up on reading material from WHSmith Books or indulge in duty-free scents, make-up and alcohol at World Duty Free.
If travelling within the EU, shop on the way out and collect on your return with the free Shop & Collect Service. Keep the receipt and collect your purchases in UK Arrivals.
You will find WiFi broadband hotspots provided by Boingo Wireless throughout the airport. There are plenty of plug sockets to recharge your laptop, before and after security, while Spectrum Interactive fixed PC terminals are available for last-minute emails.
East & Drink
Perk yourself up with an espresso at Costa or Nero, go French with a pastry at Paul or enjoy hot snacks at West Cornwall Pasty. Take advantage of the cheap children's menu in The Turnhouse or spoil yourself with oysters and champagne at the Thermidors Seafood Bar. For something healthy, savour the salads, baguette sandwiches and soups at Eat. The cost of all food and drink in the airport matches UK high-street prices.
