The UK's busiest airport outside London, Manchester Airport flies nearly 19 million passengers a year from its three terminals. The airport is 10 miles (16 km) south of the city centre, a 20-minute trip by train.
The best shopping is after the security check in Terminal 1 with shops like Accessorize, Fat Face, Monsoon and Kurt Gieger. Buy camera equipment from Dixons , books and magazines from WH Smith and last-minute beauty essentials from Boots pharmacy in all three terminals.
If you're travelling within the EU, buy products at the tax-free equivalent price after security. Some stores offer a collect-on-return service and Home Delivery is currently offered in Alpha and Dixons.
High-speed wireless internet access is available throughout the airport; the first 30 minutes are free.
East & Drink
Eating options before security include Runway Brasserie between Terminals 1 and 2 and coffee and snacks at Costa Coffee in Terminal 3. Starbucks is located after security in Terminals 1 and 2, while Terminal 3 has snack bars Bar 08 and Delice de France. Most eating and drinking options are after security: Try the Runway Bar in Terminal 1, sip cocktails in Terminal 2’s Observatory Bar or pints in Terminal 3’s The Medlock. To enjoy substantial meals after passing security, head to Giraffe in Terminal 1.
