How to purchase an upgrade
Love comfort and luxury, access to our lounges, a seat for utter relaxation, a special dining experience and more on your flight? If there are still seats available in our Business Class before departure, you can purchase an upgrade.
If you have a fully flexible ticket type you can arrange this:
- After logging in to My Trip
- Via your travel agent
- At Amsterdam Airport Schiphol at the ticket office or in the KLM Crown Lounge
With any ticket type, you can arrange this:
- Via the KLM Service Centre, or 24/7 through social media
- During check-in: online, or at the airport at a self-service machine or the check-in desk
- On board your flight
After buying an upgrade, you can enjoy the same benefits as any Business Class passenger!
Upgrade with a discount during check-in
When checking in at KLM.com or at a self-service machine at the airport, we might offer you a last-minute upgrade at a highly discounted price!
If you buy this upgrade with a discount, the number of Miles earned and your baggage allowance will remain the same as stated in the confirmation e-mail of your original booking.
Upgrade Yourself: bid for an upgrade
Have a shot at winning a journey of luxury for the price that you are willing to pay. When your flight is eligible for an upgrade you will receive an invitation by e-mail to participate in the auction or you can enter through My Trip.
Submit your best offer in our online auction up to 30 hours prior to departure of your scheduled flight. When the bidding ends, we'll let you know if you've won the upgrade to Business Class.
At the ticket office, you can use any means of payment, including Flying Blue Miles. In the lounges, you can pay only with Miles. Once on board, you can purchase an upgrade with your credit card or by paying cash. You can pay by credit card during check-in, online and at the self-service check-in machines and by credit card or cash at the check-in counter. In the online Upgrade Yourself auction we only accept credit card payments.
