      Back to Prepare for travel
Your ticket specifies the number of pieces of baggage you may take free of charge. If you want to take more, you can arrange for extra pieces of baggage online at a 20% discount. Excess baggage fees may differ per flight.

      About excess baggage

You can view your baggage allowance during booking a flight or by logging on to Manage my Booking. Your ticket also states your baggage allowance.

For KLM flights, you can arrange to take extra pieces of baggage at a discount of 20% or more:

      • when booking your flight at KLM.com
      • via Manage my Booking
      • when you check in online – depending on the check-in services at your departure airport

Or you can arrange for extra baggage at the airport at the standard airport fees.

If you will be departing from Australia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Germany (Berlin, Munich or Frankfurt), France, Ireland or the United States (except from Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Miami or Washington DC), the only way to arrange for your extra baggage will be at the airport. There you will be charged the standard airport fee for excess baggage.

You can arrange the transportation of sports equipment, pets or medical devices yourself online via Manage my Booking. Or, contact KLM Telephone Reservations. Be sure to arrange for your special baggage at least 48 hours before departure.
