CSR Report 2008/09

Air France-KLM’s approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in 2008-2009 produced very good results, despite the serious impact the economic crisis has had on the group. You can read all about what we’ve been doing in the CSR Report.

This year we continued in our firm commitment to CSR. We have a number of clear and simple indicators we follow, five of which are:

Climate change
Reducing CO2 emissions remains a priority: through modernising the fleet and optimising fuel consumption and flight procedures. We are also carrying out research into biofuels that don’t compete with the food chain.

Local environment
Noise reduction, controlling energy consumption and waste processing are all subjects that are high on our agenda when it comes to limiting the effect on our local environment. We also take biodiversity into account.

Contribution to social and economic development
By opening up the world we contribute to local economies. We are continuing to develop competencies and to take humanitarian initiatives.

Excellent service for our customers
Meeting our customers’ wishes in innovative ways is central to our policy. This also means involving customers in CSR initiatives.

Mutual effort to maintain employment
Increasing mobility, developing cooperation between departments and promoting training and competencies are spearheads of our policy.

CSR is increasingly embedded in our daily lives. Staff at all levels are contributing with ideas and deeds. This engagement and dialogue are crucial to the success of a CSR policy.

This also applies to the dialogue with our stakeholders. If you have a suggestion, please let us hear it. We also won’t shy away from criticism. You can reach us at csr@klm.com.
