We participate in numerous platforms in the communities surrounding our home base:

Schiphol Regional Review Board (CROS)
CROS  (available in Dutch only) aims to develop measures that will reduce noise for residents living close to Schiphol. KLM is active in a number of different working groups, addressing issues together with representatives of local residents.

Knowledge and Development Centre (KDC)
At the KDC, KLM works together with other groups – including the Royal Netherlands Air Force, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and Eurocontrol – to make Schiphol Airport fully accessible. The KDC also conducts experiments proposed by CROS, focusing on noise abatement in the greater Schiphol area.

De Alderstafel
This consultative platform saw KLM meeting with representatives from the state, regional officials, and local residents to discuss the sustainable development of Schiphol and its surroundings. On October 1st, the Alderstafel advised the Dutch government. Read here more (Dutch only).

Municipal Visits
Together with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Air Traffic Control the Netherlands, we arrange for regular visits by the municipality. Local officials – including mayors, aldermen, and city councilors – from the municipalities surrounding Schiphol Airport are invited to familiarize themselves with our organizations, our role in the region, and our efforts to reduce noise impact.

Dialogue Events
KLM intends to take things a step further with a series of “dialogue events” that will serve as a forum where experts from various fields can share their ideas, informally and publicly. One such theme could be ‘Flight and CO2’ or international cooperation and sustainable development, which we discussed with representatives of The Third Chamber and Cordaid. Efforts such as these increase KLM’s transparency and accessibility, further consolidating our status as a trendsetter.
